Quick update here. Returning home, we found our home in great condition. We had no flooding or real damage. Many in our neighborhood did however. Several roofs caved in and retention ponds flooded their homes just down the street. About twenty to thirty of our church members lost everything due to flooding as well. The kids and I spent the morning today helping sort many, many bags of donated clothing for those who lost their homes. We then went as a family to visit and minister to those in the church and community the rest of the afternoon and evening. The devastation is truly unbelievable. It is so sad to see all their belongings out on the curb. Everything from clothing, bedding, furniture appliances, toys, etc. Home after home with piles of belongings filling their front yard four to five feet high. We also have free laundry stations, and shower stations set up in our home depot parking lot. The national guard with humvees and police are out everywhere and helicopters are overhead frequently. Samaritans purse is doing a fantastic job at our church as well where we are housing about 50 relief workers as they also reach out to our community gutting out homes. We are blessed to have so many people pulling together all these relief efforts. Please continue to keep everyone here in your prayers as we begin this recovery. I may try to add photos at some point in the future.
